The inhabitants of Twente are called Tukkers. What makes a Tukker?
Tukkers: a no-nonsense, down-to-earth and proud people. Proud of their land, their culture and each other! Doe maar normaal, dan doe je al gek genoeg (a Dutch saying that translates as “just act normally, that's strange enough already”). And preferably with as few words as possible. Admittedly, Tukkers are a little rigid; they don’t open up quickly. But they’re also honest, level-headed, hospitable, and have a dry sense of humour. You have to understand Tukkers to love them.
